THE FABRIC COLLECTION – a new user friendly way to shop!

Hot off the Press! A new fabric website has been established.

It’s been started by Val Gibson who’s a passionate home sewer. She’s been sewing for the past thirty years and is a fully qualified Palmer/Pletsch Fit and Sewing teacher.

Val runs Palmer/Pletsch classes and workshops from her home on the Mornington Penisula, Victoria, Australia.

These have proven to be tremendously successful and in addition to these fit classes, Val also teaches dressmaking. Several of her garments have been showcased in Sitches & Craft Show fashion parades and Australian Stitches  Magazine has published an article featuring garments made by Val, using Burda Magazine patterns.

Val says, “The reason I sew is that I really enjoy creating unique garments designed especially to suit my colouring and my style. I love it when someone pays me a compliment and I can proudly say – I made it myself!”

She has an innate sense of style. Val is always beautifully presented, and in addition to her sewing skills, she obviously embraces the current trends but always adapted to suit her excellent taste.

As a result of running her sewing school, Val realized the constant frustration she and her students experienced as they were finding it increasingly difficult to buy quality fabrics often due to the lack of local fabric shops.

So, recently, when her frustration got the better of her, she decided to source gorgeous fabrics not only for herself but also for avid home sewers.

The result: A new website called

This user friendly website is SOOOOOO easy to navigate and each fabric can be enlarged to enable the user to see the colours, textures and prints clearly. Each print will be on screen with a suggested plain fabric to compliment it.

THE FABRIC COLLECTION has fifty Martin & Savage Fabrics for you to choose from. These cover the main colour palettes and fabrics include bottom weights through to top weights, knits, wovens and some very directional burnout sheers, jacquards and crepe de chines!

Val has compiled swatch cards and a complete set for Spring/Summer is available for $12.95 includes postage and handling.

She says, “I have done this swatch card service for those sewers who need to see and feel the fabric. The cost of this service (ie. the $12.95) will be discounted off any fabric purchases over $130.00.

“Other sewers will hit the website and because they can see the colours, prints and fabric texture in a large format they may not see the need to buy swatch sets.”
