Australian Sewing Guild Inc. presents the 8th National Convention - Sunday 27th September to Saturday 3rd October 2009
Situated over a beautiful site in the Lesmurdie Hills, only 25 minutes from Perth, WA, is a College, which takes its name from an Irish Saint, it is St Brigids College.
In Sept / Oct 2009 this will become home to the members of the Australian Sewing Guild Inc. for the 8th National ASG Convention and the backdrop for a wonderful week of relaxation, sewing, fun and comradery.
This year, to get you in the sewing mood, there is a talented line up of inspirational Tutors from Western Australia, South Australia and New South Wales. They will challenge you with subjects that include tailoring, bra making, the modern corset and custom construction techniques, as well as standard dressmaking techniques. There will be creative sewing technique classes and classes to help you brush up on traditional techniques such as vents and mitres, collars and cuffs, bound buttonholes and jet pockets and the chance to make an up-to-the-minute Japanese inspired jacket.
But the week is not all work and no play. The varied social activities, guest speakers, fashion parade and sight-seeing tour turn this week into a custom made holiday package for all seamsters. Every night will feature activities designed to get people together and have fun and will centre around a great dinner or a casual BBQ and a varied entertainment program.
Also in Western Australia, at this time of the year, it is wildflower season. Exquisite species of wildflowers, native only to Australia, are blooming everywhere and there is a fun day-trip planned to explore a little of this beautiful country, experience this extraordinary floral beauty and, as an added bonus, taste some of the delicious wines produced in WA.
