The Australian Sewing Guild…is it for you?
The Australian Sewing Guild Inc. (ASG) is a national organisation for people who regard sewing as a creative and rewarding activity, and sharing the benefits and joys of sewing almost as much fun as sewing itself. The ASG is a place to share the latest sewing information, link into up-to-date resource databases and a friendly, national, support network of like-minded enthusiasts covering all levels of sewing skills, from beginners to advanced. The ASG is aimed predominantly at fashion and apparel sewers although many members also belong to quilting, embroidery and creative textile groups.
Each local ‘Neighbourhood’ group caters to the specific interests, talents and needs of its local membership and the members of each group determine group activities. Geographically linked groups form part of a Region. Collectively, the groups within a Region have the combined resources to organize special events, hire great teachers or run holiday retreats and workshops which may normally be out of the reach of individual members or groups. Regions form part of the Australia-wide national collective with the full backing, benefits and resources of a strong national organization. This tiered structure allows new members to find ‘just the right group’ for them, or cater to all their varied creative interests and participate in several different groups.
If you would like to meet other enthusiastic, motivated, like-minded sewers and enjoy your sewing time more, improve your sewing knowledge, find a great teacher or an elusive fabric or haberdashery shop, or if you have talents to share, we invite you to become a member and join in the fun, sharing and creativity of sewing! You may be a ‘sewaholic’ or have never even threaded a needle; either way the ASG will definitely have something to offer you.
